Approve, Modify or Reject Recommended Prices with Price Approvals
Approve, Modify or Reject Recommended Prices with Price Approvals
Updated today

To start

The Price Approval feature allows you to:

  1. Approve, modify or reject recommended prices from pricing strategies before publishing them to your own marketplace website.

  2. Specify which segments of the catalog require approval and which SKUs can have their prices published automatically.

To activate this feature, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager for assistance.

How it works

1. Two new columns on Wiseboard

  1. Price Approval:
Indicates if the SKU’s recommended price can be published directly to the website without an approval process. By default, this setting is Disabled for all SKUs.

    1. Disabled: Recommended prices from pricing strategies are published automatically without approval.

    2. Enabled: Recommended prices from pricing strategies require approval before being published.

  2. Reprice To:
Allows users to manually enter a price to override the recommended price. This option is available only for SKUs where price approval is enabled.

2. Enable/Disable Approvals for SKUs

  1. Enable or Disable Approvals for Multiple SKUs
Select the SKUs and use the Price Approval action dropdown at the top. Choose either Enable Approvals or Disable Approvals to adjust the status.

Please note it may take 30 seconds for the status to update in the Wiseboard.

  2. Default Settings for New and Unset SKUs:
To configure the default Price Approval status for new SKUs imported into Wiseboard, navigate to Settings > Price Approval. This default setting will apply to all newly added SKUs, and existing SKUs where Price Approval has not been manually set before (i.e., has not been enabled or disabled by any user).

If the default setting is modified, it may take 5-10 minutes for the change to take effect in Wiseboard.

Note: If the default setting changes from “Disabled” to “Enabled”, the price approval status for new SKUs will initially appear as “Disabled” in the UI until a price recommendation is received. This is a limitation.

3. New Price Status - Pending Approval

  1. When approval is enabled for a SKU for the first time, the status in the New Price column will update to Pending approval.

  2. After a SKU has been approved, repriced, or rejected, its status will only change to Pending approval when a new price recommendation that differs from the current new price comes in.

4. Take Price Actions

Please note: It may take 30 seconds for the status to update after an action is taken.

  1. Approve Prices Individually:
To approve a price, hover over the Pending approval status and confirm the action. Once approved, the New Price status will change to Approved, and the recommended price from pricing strategies will be published.

  2. Reject Prices Individually
To reject a price, hover over the Pending approval status and confirm the rejection. Once rejected, the SKU will retain its current price, the new price should match the last published price - this could be the last price recommendation published from pricing strategies or the last approved / repriced price.

  3. Bulk Approve/Reject:
Select multiple SKUs and use the action dropdown at the top to approve or reject prices. Note: This action only affects SKUs with Pending approval status and does not impact prices that have already been approved, repriced, or rejected.

  4. Reprice for Each SKU:
You can reprice any approval-enabled SKU at any time, even if it has already been approved, rejected, or repriced, by entering a value in the Reprice To column. Once repriced, the New Price status will update to Repriced, the Reprice To column will clear, and the entered price will be published.

Note: When a SKU is repriced, it is temporarily removed from the strategy as the repricing action overrides the price recommendation. The Pricing Strategy column on Wiseboard will be cleared. However, once a new recommendation comes in, the SKU will be considered part of the strategy again and the status will update to pending approval. This is a known limitation.

If the entered price is below the minimum or above the maximum price set for the SKU, a warning message will be displayed when confirming the reprice.

5. Easily Track Actions

  1. New Price Status Tooltip:
Hover over the approved, rejected, or repriced status to quickly see who took the action and when.
e.g. Recommended price was approved by someone@wiser.com on Oct. 11 2024 at 11:11 AM. The new price is $38. 99.

  2. Inspector - Price Approval History
In the Inspector, navigate to the Price Approval tab to view a comprehensive record of all actions from the past 180 days. This includes enabling or disabling approval, as well as approving, repricing, or rejecting prices. The log shows who performed each action along with the timestamp, ensuring transparency and accountability.

6. Filter SKUs Easily by Approval or New Price Status

  • Open the Wiseboard filter and filter SKUs by Price Approval or New Price Status to easily locate specific SKUs.

Best Practices

Thanks for reading! Here are a few tips to help you make the most of this feature:

  1. Try to avoid having multiple users take different actions on the same SKU at the same time — this can cause actions to be lost.

  2. Please note that the Repriced status is more temporary than Approved or Rejected in Wiseboard, as it depends on how often price recommendations update. For full details, you can always check the Price Approval History in the Inspector.

  3. Make the most of Wiseboard filters to quickly find SKUs based on their status, like Pending approval or Approved, to work more efficiently.
