Secure File Transfers (SFTP/FTPS)

Setup and file uploads walk-through

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Wiser provides secure file transfer via SFTP or FTPS to send and receive data files.

Before You Begin

You will need the following credentials provided securely by your Wiser team:

  • Host

  • Username

  • Password

  • Port

    • Typically 22 for SFTP

    • Typically 21 for FTPS

Keep these credentials secure. You will need them each time you reconnect.

Step 1: Download a File Transfer Tool

We recommend FileZilla, a free and trusted file transfer application.

  1. Choose the version for your computer (Mac or Windows).

  2. Download the Client version (not Server).

  3. You do not need the Pro version — the free version supports SFTP/FTPS.

2. Log In Using Your Credentials

  1. Open FileZilla

  2. Enter the credentials provided by Wiser:

    1. Host: Provided by your Wiser team.

    2. Username and Password: Sent to you securely.

    3. Port: Typically 22 for SFTP or 21 for FTPS

    4. Click Quickconnect

3. Upload Your Files

Once connected, you will see two panels:

  • Left panel: Files on your computer

  • Right panel: Wiser’s secure folders

To upload:

  1. Navigate to the correct folder on your computer (left side).

  2. On the right side, open the folder named uploads.

  3. Drag and drop your file(s) from left (your computer) to right (Wiser’s uploads folder).

All files should be placed in the uploads folder unless otherwise instructed.

4. After Upload

Once your file is successfully uploaded:

  • No notification is required unless instructed otherwise.

  • Wiser will process the file automatically.

  • If FileZilla disconnects due to inactivity, reconnect and continue if needed.

If you run into issues at any point, contact your Customer Success Manager or support@wiser.com.
